Our mural by the Woodside International School
We wanted a mural to alert the neighbors about the Hidden Garden Steps project and to involve neighboring schools. The retaining walls at the bottom of the steps were ideal. The Woodside International School on Irving and 18th enthusiastically agreed to do a mural, under the direction of Angie Crabtree, their art teacher, and two students, Itzel and Song. Because the steps, right-of-way and walls are city property, we sought and received approval from the San Francisco Arts Commission. The school created an summer elective course during July, 2011 to paint the mural, and now it is done. Here are some photos by Gilbert Johnson and Elizabeth McLoughlin of the mural under construction.
